Nintendo Power interview Naoto Oshima

Naoto Oshima, the creator of the Sonic character, he has also directed many games and headed projects at Sonic Team, including NiGHTS Into Dreams with Yuji Naka and Sonic CD, he left SEGA shortly after Sonic Adventure. Nintendo Power had an interview with Naoto Oshima.

I was looking for some more Black Knight info, until I found a countdown that IGN created. I added it on the right side of the blog. The countdown will be up there until Sonic and the Black Knight is out.

North America Sonic and the Black Knight Boxart

Remember the Black Knight boxart DarkHero Sonic posted on this blog? He found the Europe boxart. Today, I found the North America boxart. The game has Wi-Fi so you could trade treasures with other people on the internet. Weird that the Europe's rating of the game is 12+ (which is rated T) and the North America's rating of the game is E10+. Here's the picture of the boxart:

Sonic Unleashed is half priced at Gamestation just for £17.98, but the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 verisons are at half price. If you live in Europe, it's a good time to buy Sonic Unleashed before Christmas.

X-Play reviews Xbox 360 verison of Sonic Unleashed

X-Play reviews Sonic Unleashed today, but they review the 360 verison than the Wii verison. The Xbox 360 verison looks really differnet than the Wii verison, like new stuff in the stages and you can walk around the stage you're at. Here's the video of the review:

Sonic Chaos is coming to Wii

Sonic Chaos is going to released for the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. Sonic Chaos might not be a Sonic game everybody knows, unless you're a real Sonic fan. The game is about Sonic and Tails getting Chaos Emeralds from Eggman. The game is already out or almost out for Virtual Console

My Sonic Game Review

Hey guys, Dannyboy here and I just want to thank the admins of GHZ for accepting me as a writer for GHZ

I am going to do a monthly review of old and new Sonic games. Here is my first review, enjoy!

Welcome to my review on the overly criticized Sonic game, or should I say Shadow game. Shadow the hedgehog is a darker game in the Sonic series where the player takes control of our favorite rival for Sonic, Shadow. After falling from the Ark and helping Sonic and the gang fight Metal Sonic, he became overly troubled about finding out his past.
He encounters many of our favorite classic stars and some new ones including the villainous Black Doom. Black Doom claims to know his past and will reveal it to Shadow only if he collects the seven chaos emeralds.

The player can choose to complete one of three different missions on most level. One being a good guy mission where Shadow is helping the fight against the Black Creatures, Two being a neutral mission where he is helping himself, and third a dark mission where shadow is going against the good guys and helping Doom.

There are several endings and once you complete them all, you can unlock the secret and true ending. I won't spoil it for you if you have not fully beaten the game yet.

Most criticizing remarks about this game come from how Shadow makes use of guns in most levels to achieve his goal. This game also introduces the word "Damn" into the glossary of vocabulary used by characters, but I do understand this game is for older players. It is rated E 10+ only because of these two features. If you are to young for it or do not like it then do not play it.

The voice actor Maddie Blaustein (she acted as some character on Sonic X and other anime shows) died last week in her sleep from an illness.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Master System is out for Wii

The Master System verison of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is out for Wii Virtual Console. This game is really differnet than the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 everybody knows and isn't that fun as the normal one.

"Sonic Shuffle" re-trademakarked.

According to the site Destructoid, Sega retrademarked "Sonic Shuffle". For those who doesn't know, Sonic Shuffle is a party game (like Mario Party, but in my opinion it's just a cheap copy of Mario Party) for the Dreamcast. This might mean Sega is planning on doing a new Sonic Shuffle game or a remake.

I already played Sonic Shuffle and I hated it, but if Sega make a new one that's at least decent I might buy it... I hope it's for the Wii.

Sonic and the Secret Rings Review:Sonic and the Secret Rings (or SatSR) is a game for the Wii, made, pitifully,by SEGA. I say so because it's just a excuse for making money, it's not even funny. First to start, it's on rails, meaning you can't move backwards neither stop without pressing 1. Second it has a Mission system that confuse you, you don't know what you need to do next. (Like in Xbox 360 Sonic Unleashed :/)Sega could have made it Sonic's return to the mainstream, but no. The camera can also produce seizures. The good thing it's the bosses, they're alittle fun to defeat and very hard. The story is this: Sonic sleeps meanwhile reading a book (Very original) and a genie comes to say that the book is being destroyed (WTF?) by the genie of Aladdin (Which one?), which impales Sonic with a curse, which no matter how many time you take, never passes.To finish this review, I'll say it's a 6.3/10 game, but hear my words, IT COULD HAD BEEN A 9/10.

Not the best, but not the worst review we ever saw. It got a 6/9!

Secret Stages in Sonic Unleashed

New Sonic and the Black Knight Screenshots

I was searching on YouTube, finding some Sonic Unleashed videos until I found a video about Knuckles in Sonic and the Black Knight (I knew Knuckles was going to be in the game, but I looked at the video anyways). Once I viewed it, I seen some new screenshots I never seen.

Yesterday I posted some news on SBK, today I'll post some more. All comes fromt the last edition of Nintendo Power. So here it goes:

• Movement Soul Surge: press B and shake - do a series of attacks in enemies in which you aimed or a very strong turbo that can be good to run out of danger;
• Some abilities de Sonic and the Secret Rings will return;
• Two new abilities: break shields with Paladin and Splash Jump with Cavalier, it's used to climb walls;
• Sonic's sword is called Caliburn;
• Stage: Molten Mines, which has mine cars;
• Stage: Titanic Plains. You can cut down the grass of this level;
• Repeat stages to unlock new ones;
• Multiplayer allows fights with CPU;
• It's probably being released in March of 2009;
• Aquire new abilities based on the fighting style you chose;
• The abilities are measured in "stars";
• You start the game in Misty Lake, and then you go to Camelot Castle, Molten Mine, Titanic Plains and more;
• There are two paths to be followed;
• Tails is a blacksmith who creates items using what you have collected.

Each time I think SBK will be a even better game!

Let's Tap

Yuji Naka (former head of Sonic Team and head of Prope) and the Prope crew are creating a new Sega game for their first project, Let's Tap for Nintendo Wii. Let's Tap have many party-like games to do, like Tap Runner, Rhythm Tap, Visualizer, Silent Blocks, and Bubble Voyager. Here's the video of the game.

Hey there peoplez, Here is Flame, I'm proud to say that after a long hiatus, the creator of the blog is back! I also wanted to thank Shadow the Plumber and DHS for taking care of the blog. I liked alot what you did! :) Well, now let's go on with the news.

The details below come from the last edition of Nintendo Power. Check out:

• The c-stick is used to move the character, A to jump, shake the WiiMote to attack, and Z to block;
• Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze are bosses, and the Knights of the Round Table;
• After defeating Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze they turn into allies;
• These same three might be playable;
• Each zone has about 6 to 9 missions;
• Fighting styles: "Cavalier" - velocity, "Paladin" - strenght, "Knight" - combination of the first two;
• Aquire new abilities durring the game.
• Multiplayer modes: Battle and Survivor Mode;
• There is solo missions specially created for challenges for online rankings.

That's all. It seems like Sonic and the Black Knight will be a pretty good game.

Planetary Pieces

Sega of Japan revealed the Sonic World Adventure (Japanese name of Sonic Unleashed) soundtrack and the release date for PS3 and 360 verisons of Sonic World Adventure is February 19th 2009. The soundtrack will be released on January 28th 2009. The soundtrack will have 91 songs from Sonic World Adventure.

Europe Sonic Unleashed PS3 Release Date and Black Knight Screenshot

Sega of Europe's Sonic City Blognik revealed that Europe's PS3 verison of Sonic Unleashed is coming out on December 19th while North America's PS3 verison is coming out in December 16th or 23rd.

Also new Sonic and the Black Knight screenshots were released. One screenshots for the game has Knuckles in it.

GameTrailers Sonic Unleashed Reviews

GameTrailers reviewed the Wii verison of Sonic Unleashed and it gotten ok reviews. Here's a link to the video of the review:

If you saw the video already, Sonic Unleashed got a rating of 7.0 and GameTrailers wanted a better Sonic game than having Werehog screwing it up. Let's hope that Sonic and the Black Knight would be good.

Sonic: Night of the Werehog

Remember the post I made on the day I returned to the blog? The "Sonic Unleashed Day" post? I posted a short verison of Night of the Werehog. Today, Sega added the full verison of it. Sonic the Hedgehog and Chip entered a manison which was haunted, until Sonic the Werehog finds himself against two ghosts who were trying to scare people to get kissed by a female ghost.

Unleashed 360 haven't released in North America

The Wii, PS2, and PS3 verisons of Unleashed came out already in North America, but the 360 verison haven't came out yet when it should be. The 360 verison had been held back until November 24th or 25th.

New Sonic Chair

Internet gaming shop named PRWeb are selling Sonic chairs. The chair is for 3-9 years old. The chair came out yesterday, the release date of Sonic Unleashed in North America. Sonic Unleashed will come out soon in Europe and Australia.

Sega Europe released the Sonic and the Black Knight box art. For some reason, PEGI (The Europe rating company) posted it as rated T. I'm not sure if ESRB will rate it the same or not. Here's a picture of the box art.

Sonic X Toys at Australian McDonald's

Australian McDonald's are selling Sonic X toys since Sonic Unleashed is almost out. If you're in Australia, go and get the Sonic X toys. Also, Sonic Unleashed comes out tommorow in North America, December 18th in Japan, November 28th in Europe, and November 27th in Australia.

Sonic Unleashed had been sold out before the day was released at Woolworth.com. All of the Sonic Unleashed verisons were sold out. It's been awhile since Sonic gotten a popular besides Mario and Sonic. So beware when you're getting Sonic Unleashed for Christmas. Also, Sonic Unleashed is coming out really soon in North America. Only two more days.

More Sonic Unleashed Info

If you seen the videos I posted here, you may have seen Chip in two of the Sonic Unleashed videos I posted. I found more info about Chip. Chip lost his memory, so he wants to go around the world with Sonic to get his memory back. This sounds more like Shadow from Shadow the Hedgehog game, but maybe Chip could have a important memory that could help Sonic.

gamesTM magazine made a mistake that Sonic Unleashed would have multiplayer when Sega said "No multiplayer of any kind".

Sonic Enters Mario's World

As you could tell from my username, I'm a Sonic and Mario fan. I was looking for a good video to post on this blog until I remembered this video that I'm going to post right now. It's a video about a 3D classic-looking Sonic running around the Mario world from Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. Mario and Sonic at the Hacked Games

If you played Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii, you may know all the characters. Sonic, Mario, Luigi, Tails, Knuckles, Yoshi, Amy, Peach, Wario, Shadow, Bowser, Eggman, Waluigi, Vector, Blaze, and Daisy. I was watching this video and also was reading at the popular MarioWiki that Donkey Kong, Jet the Hawk, Silver the Hedgehog, and Birdo were going to be in this game as playable. Sadly, they were cut out. This video was interesting that somebody hacked Mario and Sonic to let Jet, Donkey Kong, Goomba, and Cream the Rabbit to be playable.

Sonic Smash Brothers.

Sonic Smash Bros. is like a Super Smash Bros. game but it's a flash game. The playable characters are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and even more...There are a few SSB items and some Sonic items. I found this game when I was checking some Sonic fan game videos on Youtube until I saw a link to Sonic Smash Bros. and if you like Super Smash Flash, then you will like this game.

Sonic & the Black Knight Art Contest and Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection

This the the second surpise I said yesterday. I never really said on the blog that DarkHero Sonic is my brother, which also helped me with the pictures, quotes, and the new poll question. DarkHero Sonic entered the Black Knight contest Flame the Fox posted back in August, and got a letter and a free comic from Sega. I'm not sure if DarkHero Sonic's picture will be in Sonic and the Black Knight, but it was nice of Sega to send us a comic.

You may remember about Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection I posted back in September. The game is going to be for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Winter 2009. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection have games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Ristar, Vectorman, and alot more.

Spongesonic - Chocolate With Nuts

This is Shadow the Plumber and this is one of the surpises I said yesterday. It's.....another.....FANON SONIC! This Fanon Sonic is Sonic X combines with SpongeBob SquarePants. If you seen the episode Chocolate With Nuts, you may know the storyline of this video. The only thing differnet is that the characters are Sonic characters than SpongeBob. Sonic Unleashed Day

Like I said yesterday, I'm going to post all new things Sega did to Sonic Unleashed.

Sonic World Adventure (Japanese verison of Sonic Unleashed) got delayed until Spring 2009, but only the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ones were delayed. The Wii verison is only staying at it's old release date.

Sonic Unleashed is going to released at Europe in November 28th, but only the Xbox 360 verison will be released in December.

Toys R Us are selling Sonic the Werehog action figures. Also Australians can get a free Werehog action figure if they pre-order Sonic Unleashed.

Sega released a trailer to a Sonic Unleashed mini movie. The video shows Sonic as Sonic the Werehog and also the new character Chip appears.

Other news is that Bioware is already writing the plot of Sonic Chronicles 2. It's unknown what the real name of Sonic Chronicles 2 is and what is going to be in the game.

Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection?

GameStop's latest release list have a unknown Sonic game called "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection". It's been listed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 10th, 2009 for $29.99. It's unknown if the game is real, but I bet it will. Stay tuned for more Sonic the Hedgehog news

Green Hill Zone Wiki is down

This is Shadow the Plumber here. The Green Hill Zone Wiki is down right now, because ScribbleWiki's server is down. It's unknown when ScribbleWiki will fix this problem, but I'm thinking it'll be fixed in October or less. The wiki may be down, but the forum is still open for users to chat in.

Shadow the Hedgehog: Hacked

I was looking for new Sonic info at YouTube, until I found a sweet video of Shadow the Hedgehog. The Chaos Control move is tight, but hackers made a REAL Chaos Control move that can slow down or freezes things around Shadow.



Sweet video huh? The hackers also made a Super Mario 64, Sonic Advance 2, Yoshi's Island, WarioWare, and The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap hacked videos.

New Sonic Unleashed Trailer

SEGA posted a new Unleashed trailer of the China stage on YouTube. Also, the rating for Unleashed is now known. It's E10+ for Animated Blood and Fantasy Violence.

PALGN interviewed Bioware’s Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood Associate Producer Dorian Kieken.

Bioware is ready to make a Sonic Chronicles sequel, but it's unknown if SEGA agrees if there'll be a Sonic Chronicles sequel.

Official Sonic Chronicles Mini Game opened!

SEGA just released a teaser flash mini-game the "game trainer" for you people who can't wait to get your hands in The Dark Brotherhood.

If it's your first time in the game, you create an username. Then it gives you options of where to put the game. You can put it in myspace, windows live, windows vista gadgets, blogger and etc., as well as giving you an embed html. Did I just say blogger? That's right, I can put it right here in this post, and that's what I'm going to do ;)

Going back to the game, there are several mini-games in it, that has to do with the main game. But it's not only that! You can have your own Chao Garden, supporting 20 chaos! Just awesome, huh? There are five levels in the game. The starter, the bronze, the silver, the gold and the dark. The borders of your game change to the color of your level. Everytime you level up, you get a new thing to download, and open new mini-games!

New Details on Wii version of Sonic Unleashed

From Sonic Stadium. These details were translated from a spanish gaming site of an unknown name.

*Half of the game normal, the other half were-hog
*Wii-PS360 more similar than first thought, design and gameplay-wise
*You use Wiimote + Nunchuck
*Won’t have motion controls for attacking from the air, despite of being pretty similar to The Secret Rings
*Some problems controlling Sonic at a low speed. Walking for rings, etc
*Wiimote just for accelerate-push
*No motion controls for side-step, you’ll use B and Z, like on 360
*Don’t know if they’re using for balancing ropes or QTEs, but they should!
*According to SEGA, the game (Wii version) should be shown in the upcoming TGS, in October.
*Not showing the Black Night because of focusing on this one first.

SEGA made a new Sonic Unleashed video at the Leipzig’s Game Convention. In the end of the video, some weird dog creature named Chip flys around Sonic. It's unknown if Chip is important in Sonic Unleashed.

The new Sonic the Hedgehog issue is out in stores now. The comic also have the prologue of the upcoming Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Here's the front cover of the issue.

Metal Sonic VS. Shadow in Brawl

Hackers edited characters textures in SSBB to get new ones; out of them, there are Metal Sonic and Shadow edited out of Sonic. Below you can see a fight of Shadow against Metal Sonic.



Pretty good huh? Nintendo should've made tham color changes, don't ya thing? And this group of hackers, they have made several other characters, such as Shadow Mario, Dry Bowser and Mr. L from the Mario series.

SEGA finally confirmed released the date when Dark Brotherhood comes out. In Europe: September 26, 2008. In North America: September 30, 2008. Stay tune for more Sonic news

SEGA opens Black Knight art contest

SEGA opened a great art contest on the game Sonic and the Black Knight. You just need to draw any Sonic character in any setting. There'll be 20 winners, and if you win, you get one copy of the game and your drawing will be in a special section inside the game. The contest is however, only opened for people living in USA, Canada and the Europeans. Australia is also classified as Sega of Europe's territory, so aussies will also be able to participate. If you are good at drawing and live in any of those places, you can't loose this oportunity.

Welcome to Green Hill Zone

Green Hill Zone is officially opened. What is Green Hill Zone you ask?

Green Hill Zone was an idea of 4 people to make a Sonic site. I (Flame) had the original idea to make a blog, while DarkHero Sonic and RedFire Mario got the idea to make a forum, and SonicMario got the idea to make a wiki. What ended up is that we made all them. The name, in homage to the famous Green Hill Zone was picked by me. This part of the "site" will contain news about the world of Sonic, and some other columns, like one where you will be able to send your drawing and they'll be posted here!
